How do you crush your cans?



After the demonstration by Mrs. Powers, please answer the following questions in a blog comment.



  1. Before heating, what kind of pressure was inside the can---high or low? What is your evidence? Explain why you believe this to be true.

  2. Once the heated can was placed into the water, what kind of air pressure was on the outside of the pop can---- high or low? What is your evidence? Explain why you believe this to be true.

  3. What caused the can to be crushed?

1.low because no extra pressure was being forced down on it
2.high because the particles moved faster so as a result more presure was on it
3. the particles clump together and which makes the tin crush

1. low pressure, because no pressure was put in the bottle
2.high pressure, this is what made the can crush
3.there was not much pressure in the bottle so the air pressure pushed the bottle in

1.Low, because nothing was putting pressure on the can.
2.High, because the pressure around the can made it high pressure.
3. The heat on the can.

1. The can had low pressure because you could not squeeze the can.
2. The water had high pressure because it crushed the can.
3. The can was crushed by the water because the pressure of the water was greater than the pressure in the can.

1. We think that the air pressure in the can was low, because no extra pressure was being pushed into the can.
2. High pressure because there is extra air pushing into the can.
3. The air pressure crushed the can in the cold water.!

1. Before heating the pressure in the can was low. We know this because you could squeeze the can in your hand.
2. Once in the water the pressure on the can was high. Our evidance was that the can got crushed.
3. The can was crushed becuase of low pressure on the inside of the can, then the pressure of the water crushed the can.

high, the can crushed
the particles squeezed together
